Bug ID: 365305
Summary: Unable to use gesture typing.
Product: kdeconnect
Version: unspecified
Platform: Android
OS: Android 5.x
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: android-application
Assignee: ***@gmail.com
Reporter: ***@gmail.com

Trying to type using gestures is not currently possible. The last letter to be
entered will be the only letter to appear on the computer screen (cat -> t).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open KDE Connect
2. Select Remote input
3. Select keyboard icon
4. Attempt to type using gestures

Actual Results:
The last letter I hovered on was the only thing produced for each word.

Expected Results:
The entirety of the swiped words/phrase would appear on the computer screen.

If it is relevant to this bug, I am using Google's Gboard keyboard.

If it is relevant to this bug, I am using Google's Gboard keyboard.
It is probably not keyboard dependent, since I can confirm this also happens
with the Swiftkey keyboard.

--- Comment #3 from Nicolas Fella <***@gmx.de> ---
The problem is that KDE Connect emulates key events, not text input per se.
Those key events then get interpreted by the text field to get the actual text.
So this is not really a bug but rather how KDE Connect works. It might be
possible to enable gesture typing, but that would require significant effort,
so don't have any high hopes for that.

Sorry
