Bug ID: 385355
Summary: PNG clips don't render and appear as invalid
Product: kdenlive
Version: 17.04.3
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: NOR
Component: Video Display & Export
Assignee: ***@kdenlive.org
Reporter: ***@gmail.com
Target Milestone: ---

I add PNG images to videos and they no longer appear when I render the video.
Instead the word 'invalid' appears. I didn't have this problem with previous
installations and when going back to previous successful projects made from
earlier installations I find that I have the same issue.

Helllo. I 've got a similar problem, since I get the last Update...(Version
17.08.1)

First I was happy , because JPGs works with this release...

Then I've tried to add a slideshow clip, but KDENLIVE says "Clip is invalid,
removed from project"...???

I start my previous Version 16.12.1, to compare , and I get the same issue
with adding slideshow clip...which was working before...???

And now , I have just notice that Webm compression , which was working
before, doesn't work anymore, too...

In each case, old and new installation...

Please, find a solution, I dont want to renew My Win 10 installation & I'm
addict to Kdenlive since I've tried It...By the Way , Great Thanks...

the issue is for Ubuntu platform, are you using Win10?
if you are using Windows i can test your PNGs (just one maybe) just send me a
link.. because on Win10 i tried now. .and seems that all PNG are working fine.

have you unzipped the Kdenlive on Desktop? (or some other folder that your user
can read/write without any issue? not root of C: and not PROGRAM FILES folder)

Hello , Yes I'm on Windows 10,

The first time I have installed it in D: /soft , a separate folder. It was
working great except for the JPGs. But Slideshow intégration (diaporama in
french...) was working fine. I have had great fun with Gimp ( and now GAP, very
usefull for morfing...) and Kdenlive , and maked my first video...
Then I saw the last version for windows, and I have decided to install the new
version on C:/programmes (I 'm french and stupid, I'm so sorry...). The problem
is that the newer 'ini' files are at the same place than the oldest. So there
is trouble...
It is now impossible to export as Webm, and impossible to intégrate slideshow
clips either png or jpg or bmp , or ... I will try to change the folder, but I
think that the problem is in the commun files of the user hidden folders like
application data and the accès is forbidden...It would be better if the ini
files were in the installation folder, in order to be more standalone. Kdenlive
doesn't appear in the uninstalltion list of windows 10, so the ini files stay
in place...Even if I delete the previous installation folder...
There is also a problem with the shell, sometimes I have to reboot computer
(it is faster for me only 7s...Juste enough to get a drink..;) Because I can't
close the others apps windows...when kdenlive is working (I have a intel quad
and a 980gtx...It is not a hardware issue...)...

It is impossible for me to acces to application data, impossible to get rights
on this folder with windows 10 family...
Thanks for your interest

--- Comment #4 from ***@aliceadsl.fr <***@aliceadsl.fr> ---
I have finally moved the folder to D: and re initiated the installation but
when I try to export as webm I still get this message:
Le rendu de C:/Users/Doudou/Documents/Sans titre.webm a été interrompu par une
erreur fatale
[webm @ 0000000006986420] Using AVStream.codec to pass codec parameters to
muxers is deprecated, use AVStream.codecpar instead. [webm @ 0000000006986420]
Using AVStream.codec to pass codec parameters to muxers is deprecated, use
AVStream.codecpar instead. Current Frame: 2, percentage: 2

When I try to add a slide show clip KDenlive says something like
'the clip is not valid, it must be removed from the project' (png jpg bmp...)
But I can use Mp4 compression and I stil can put single images, png jpg
bmp...gifs.

There is another question...with GIFs
Why do I have to reload project to read the GIFs (it works for only one read,
not for two. Not great...).

(In reply to ***@aliceadsl.fr from comment #3)
BTW this is a BUG for UBUNTU version...
better to open a BUG for windows version
the "hidden" folders (on windows) you are searching are:

the Cache:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\kdenlive
the preferences:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\kdenlive

the second one is the best to remove settings...
to access the second folder you have just to press "Windows+R" and type:
%appdata% + ENTER

I think I may have fixed it. All the clips needed to be in the same folder and
for that folder of items to be added in one shot.
