Bug ID: 363415
Summary: (File) Toolbar doesn't display correctly
Product: krita
Version: 3.0 Release Candidate
Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: usability
Assignee: krita-bugs-***@kde.org
Reporter: ***@yahoo.com

Adding "Reset Zoom" to the (file) toolbar results in an invisible button being
added to the toolbar. It still works, but it is a blank square now. Also the
option to change the text of a toolbar item is gone now (maybe on purpose?).

I should also mention that, after installing 3.0 , I went to reconfigure my
toolbar (it had been reset) but I couldn't remember that "reset toolbar" was
the one I wanted; so I added everything that sounded like it might work. A lot
of the buttons came up as invisible square spaces on the toolbar, and - despite
there being enough room on my toolbar - it seemed that some of the buttons
didn't even get placed in the toolbar.

I felt a little bad, finding so many bugs when you guys are so close to
release; I considered just ignoring it; but in the end, I'm not helping by
keeping it to myself. So: here it is and best of luck on the release!

Reproducible: Always

You will get empty buttons for actions that do not have an icon associated with
them. That's not really a bug though, and it was true in 2.9 as well, as far as
I can remember.

In version 2.9.11 , it will display the text name or the nick name you set for
it (maybe an icon, too - never tried it). So, the button originally said "reset
zoom" which I renamed to something shorter. In 3.0 , it doesn't show anything
or give an option to nick name it (the "change icon" and "change text" buttons
are not under the "current actions" list anymore) - your only option for
options without a default icon seems to be an empty box.

Here's a side by side comparison of what I'm talking about:

The dark skinned one is 3.0 - the light skinned one is 2.9.11 .

Yes, that seems to have broken, I can reproduce it -- not sure where the option
to show text or icons has gone to eitehr.

The context menu code is still there, but seems overridden by the docker
right-click menu.

Can confirm missing buttons in 3.0 :) Would love to see those return!

I'd also like to request an "Icons only" mode or at least a way to set the text
for text-only mode buttons since that option is now gone as well. Main problem
i'm currently having is trying to place Undo and Redo buttons on the "Brushes
and Stuff" toolbar - the "Undo" and "Redo" texts eat up some space, but as soon
as you start using a brush, their names change to "Undo Freehand Brush Stroke"
and "Redo Freehand Brush Stroke" which occupy nearly half of the entire
toolbar!
