I can still reproduce, though it happens only on Specific-color-selector. The
others don't seem to switch to grayscale mode on masks anyway.

The thing is, on switching to a layer without a paint device, the color
selector won't switch. So from grayscale paint layer to vector layer shows the
same issue.
