There is now an option to disable animations in Gwenview configuration dialog.

Thanks Aurelien!

For the record, I filed a similar bug against Dolphin due to new animations in
2.0 (slightly different reason: it made Dolphin very slow over remote desktop),
and Peter chose to make it follow the System Settings option. Personally I'm OK
with a checkbox in Gwenview itself though.
